I you are getting message something like this 'There is some problem in dpkg please try sudo dpkg -configure -a manually. Just enter following command one by one.
You might have to purge a few dependencies, too. Then:
NOW try to install something. It mast be ok...
$ dpkg -P timidity
$ dpkg -P python-central
$ dpkg -P python-central
